Cable Internet service is a type of broadband Internet service that leverages the same coaxial cable that is used for cable television. The cable distributor must first upgrade its equipment to provide Internet service. The cable subscriber must connect the computer to the coaxial cable via a high-speed cable modem. The speed of cable Internet access is very fast is both
directions and there are no distance constraints. Because the cable
connection in a neighbourhood is shared, some degradation in service can
occur during prime time usage periods. For most subscribers, however,
minor speed fluctuations are barely noticeable.
